Graduate of the 6 year accelerated Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Boston University - Class of 2009. Integral member of the Mount Sinai team specializing in brain injury. Over the last 10 years, Nehal has been promoted to Master Clinician, the highest ranking on the ladder for physical therapists. Certified in Neuro-Ifrah - a specialized treatment specific to stroke for return to a normalized movement pattern with limited compensations. She has received her distinction as a Clinical Brain Injury Specialist in 2013 and went on to receive her certification as a Neurological Clinical Specialized from the American Physical Therapy Association in 2014. She is passionate in helping patients recover to the best of their abilities to help them return to prior level of function or reaching for their independence. She is constantly challenged by the marvel of the human brain and its ability to always learn adapt and recover.
Arik Cohen has been a licensed acupuncturist since 2011. He has treated a wide range of conditions, such as migraines, digestive disorders, anxiety, and fatigue. Arik’s expertise is in orthopedics, treating everyone from Weekend Warriors to Olympians. He specializes in disorders of the spine, tennis elbow, rotator cuff injuries, plantar fasciitis bursitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, patellar tendinitis, and meniscal tears.
Since 2013, Arik has been treating patients at Advanced Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy, one of the top sports medicine facilities in Northern New Jersey. It is here that Arik’s passion for orthopedics flourished and he was able to hone his skills as a musculoskeletal disorder specialist.
For the past year, Arik has had the pleasure of studying and training with Dr. Shiu, learning Dr. Shiu’s Nanopuncture system. Arik is very excited to bring his skills and talents to NYC and become a member of the Shiu Clinic team.
Valentina, a native from Colombia, has always had sports and exercise as a major integral part of her life. She remembers playing soccer in her native country, which led her to study Exercise Science and Nutrition at City University of New York in 2004. She then went on to study Massage Therapy and Acupuncture at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (PCOM) where she graduated in 2012.
During her years at PCOM, she travelled a few times with a group of practitioners and students to Guatemala to provide acupuncture and massage to indigenous people from the region. Those unforgettable and life changing experiences had given her affirmation that she was on her correct path as a healer.
Since 2013, Valentina had quickly risen to be one of the most sought after practitioners to provide concierge high quality spa massage treatments by major companies, hotels, hospitals and Orthopedic offices. She is well known for her abilities to Relax the client while medically fixing their ailments. Her clientele over the years has covered a broad spectrum of patients from professional football players to patients in palliative care at hospitals, whom she treats all with equal attention and compassionate care.
Valentina’s journey in the healing arts led her to becoming an acupuncturist where she has been working at clinics with a focus on pain management and orthopedic conditions. Her pursuits has led her into becoming a Research Acupuncturist where she was involved in one of the most collaborative studies of chronic pain treatments. This ground breaking integrative study was composed of the following renown institutions: Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Montefiore Hospital and Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital.
She is now very excited to join Dr. Shiu at the SHIU CLINIC where she can continue to learn and grow to the next level as a neuroscience trained acupuncturist.
David has been working with Dr. Shiu as Clinic Manager of The Shiu Clinic since December 2018. Originally from Buffalo, NY, David is also a freelance violist, performing with groups such as The Chelsea Symphony. David was the Knowledge Center Administrative Assistant of the League of American Orchestras in New York from 2014 – 2017, where his role was the contact point for over 600 symphony orchestras throughout the U.S. David's personal care to the patients and his polite etiquette assists in making our clinic a pleasant and beneficial experience. Jennie is a member of our front desk and helps us manage operations at the Shiu Clinic. She has over 20 years of experience in the financial industries, and has worked in clinical offices for the last several years. Her organizational skills and sharp eye helps us stay productive at the Shiu Clinic.
Brehan Crawford - Lyme disease and Oncology Specialist
Brehan Crawford specializes in the treatment of chronic Lyme Disease and its coinfections, and other difficult conditions using pulse diagnosis and Chinese Herbal Medicine. He regularly consults with the practitioners at the Shiu Clinic while maintaining his private practice in Oregon. Brehan received his Chinese Medicine training from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, followed by a residency with renowned scholar and practitioner Heiner Fruehauf at the Hai Shan Clinic. Brehan has also studied in China and regularly lectures other Chinese Medicine professionals in the methodology behind diagnosing and treating chronic diseases with Chinese Herbs.
